Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. As a child, she went to her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and for several years, she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied singing dancing and acting. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight straight auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the year's top earning film, smashing records at the opening as well as the first weekend. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma received five nominations for her outstanding performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of the Film.
