Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig 21st September, 1983). 21 in 1983) is a well-known American actor. Particularly, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school in order to relocate into Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager, she began to work in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. She then appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance as a lead character in Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she received a nomination from The Golden Globe Award. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008).
